The Challenge: Create designs to demonstrate Color-Logic metallic effects.
The Process/Solution: These are all layouts made to take advantage of Ricoh 5th Color white on metallic paper using Color-Logic. Since there's no way to convey the metallic effects on a flat image, these are video clips from FX Viewer, a C-L app that lets you see how the metallic effects will look.
Part of my role with Ricoh is teaching customers how to use the 5th Color functionality of their printers. The other toners are Neon Yellow & Pink, Clear, Invisible Red, Gold, and Silver.
This is an actual brochure used by the in-house print shop at Mohawk. The goal was to try to raise awareness of their capabilities and get more people within the company to use them for their printing needs (instead of external vendors). They already had a machine capable of using specialty color so I suggested we incorporate it into the design and they were very excited to use it. They have a number of signs/photos that use brushed aluminum frames/backgrounds so I used that as the background for the piece. It uses 5th color white and cmyk over metallic paper with the metallic effect on the silver background, and the red bars throughout, but most prominent on the inside.
