The Challenge: To build the entire graphic system along with triggering button system for the scoreboard at Catawba's football stadium.
The Process/Solution: In 2020 Catawba College built a new video scoreboard for their football stadium but had nobody to design the graphics for it and run it on game day. I had a half-day training session with a Daktronics rep and learned the rest on the fly. I designed the look of the entire board and created motion graphics using templates from Daktronics, and added videos, slideshows, and more while also configuring the workspace (button layout/organization, zone configuration, etc.).
During the shortened spring 2020 season I ran the board during football games, playing video prompts, switching to the live TV feed for replays/crowd shots, and filling out any lulls with ads and other content. I also created more static scoreboards for the other sports that use the stadium.
The display type and protective netting make it hard to photograph, but the image and video below show the actual scoreboard.

I was the guest on an episode of The Daktronics Experience Podcast where I discussed the process, you can listen to it here: The Daktronics Experience, Episode 165
After 2020 I trained a student to take over gameday duties but continued to design/update the board for new events/games and would document changes to the interface and send a labeled screenshot showing the updates.
The big logo at the center was the base for the scoreboard, below that are some of the football graphics, including the lineup graphics (we also had video intros for the offense/defense).
Below are some of the static images that rotated on the center zone (the advertisers on the left also cycled through). These are the source files (for clarity's sake).
